On the road again! Yesterday we headed out and at the moment are camped in a little park just west of the great Atchafalaya Swamp. It is spectacular. Someday I want to come back and take a boat tour.
The Ford 250 is gone, taken by one of the many floods we seem to have at the bayou. The trailer also was flooded but not as bad and we were able to get it back into commission. We are driving a Dodge 2500 with a Cummins diesel. This is a much better engine and I hope there will be no repeat of some of the problems I had with the injectors on the Ford. Am keeping fingers crossed. On this trip we are going to stop at Taos, NM., Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Joshua Tree, San Diego, and anywhere else that strikes our fancy. I have to be back by July 20 to begin my new career.
If you have not already heard, I am going to be a Special Education teacher at Gautier Middle School. Before you say to yourself, "IS HE CRAZY" let me say that I am very much looking forward to the experience. The school is great, my fellow teachers and the administration are great, and the kids are keeping me young. I may change my tune but I don't think so.
