Fishing in San Quintin
San Quintin, Baja has always been one of my favorite places. Truthfully speaking the fishing is not that much better than off the coast of Louisiana but the charm is being a couple hundred miles south of the border in a different country in a place that has not yet been developed. I took Corbin Hill, father of our good friend Tammy and although this time of year is not good for game fish like yellowtail, tuna, dorado and sea bass there were plenty of good eating ling cod and snapper around. Here is Corbin with a nice ling cod. We crossed the border the next day with an ice chest full of fresh fish. Oh by the way, when in Mexico do not drive and talk on the cell phone. The local cops stopped me and wanted me to follow them to the police station, seems it is against the law to talk on cell phone and drive. Corbin talked them out of it though, of course it was an attempt on their part to stuff their stocking. It was Xmas after all.

Bob and I went Catching off San Quintin...
It had been a few years since I had been fishing in the San Quintin area. I had a fantastic trip with Bob! He got board because we only caught Ling Cod and not the harding fighting Yellowtail. However, in my humble opinion, Ling Cod is a fantastic prize to eat. Bob failed to mention we also caught a couple of White fish and upon our return to Don Eddy's had them prepared into a tray of the best fish taco's I can remember eating! Bob and Captain Kelly are the best guides, Captain and fishing partners I have ever fished with. I look forward to many more trips with both Bob and Kelly. I had a fantastic time and Bob is one heck of a Baja Expedition partner and Catcherman!!!!Look out White Sea Bass.... |
